Sign language should be taught in schools

Many people around the world are deaf or have lost their hearing. Some people in the world do not know how to sign or talk to friends or family without using their mouths. Most people don’t think of this ever happening to them but think if there were an emergency, and the closest person to you happened to be deaf. You wouldn’t know how to communicate with them because you don’t know sign language. What do you do? Go to the next person you see? This is the type of problem some people have. That is why I want to take classes on how to speak in sign language. If you look up “ABC Sign Language,” it will bring you to both videos and pictures. I think one of the best ways to learn sign language on your own is using pictures, and I have already learned most of the sign language alphabet just by using pictures.

The reason I would like schools to start teaching sign language is you might not think it will ever come in handy, but it likely will at some point in your life. If we can’t have sign language in an actual class, it would be great if teachers could start a club that teaches some basic sign language. If our school started teaching sign language, I would probably never want to leave! In conclusion, I think our school should start to teach sign language in one way or another.
