Lengel students enjoy first marking period PBIS rewards

On November 3, another PBIS was held. Grades 5 through 8 had a choice of swimming, going outside, watching a movie, relaxing in the library, playing board games, doing a craft, playing Pokemon, and playing Carr ball in the gym. I had a chance to share some opinions about the recent PBIS. I wanted to ask a few students some questions about their time – Caitlyn Peleschak, Kylie Morris, and Maddison Carl. Something that they all have in common is that they all picked the gym. They all enjoyed what they chose. Lucky for them, they all got to hang out with their friends. They couldn’t keep thinking about something! Do you know what it is? They couldn’t stop thinking the night before! Something that they all didn’t have in common is that Caitlyn Peleschak thought it was going to be fun playing Carr ball and going outside. Kylie Morris liked hanging out with her friends, so she asked them what they were going to do. Maddison Carl wanted to hang out with her friends also. Something they all loved is that they enjoyed having free time instead of doing classwork. There has been a recent PBIS, so I asked if that was their first PBIS. They all said no. I asked my teacher how long she thought PBIS has been going for she thinks it might be around 5 years. We are looking forward to the next PBIS day on November 22.

CATCH – Lengel students trade Pokemon cards in room 111 during their PBIS reward on November 3. Mr. Hughes’ Pokemon room was one of the options students could choose as their reward for showing their TIDE PRIDE.
CREATE – Lengel students spend time creating projects in Miss Palina’s craft room during their PBIS reward on November 2. Many students chose to show off their artistic abilities.
SWIM – Students relax and have fun after swimming on the November 2 PBIS reward. Many students chose to utilize the Lengel pool and spend their reward time swimming, especially since swimming is not offered during physical education class any longer.
GAME – Two students play a game of Connect 4 during the PBIS rewards time. A variety of board games were set up at the top of Martz Hall and monitored by Mrs. Modesto.
COMPETE – In addition to Pokemon, Mr. Hughes also offered students the ability to participate in other STEM activities in his room during the reward time. Several students pictured here play a video game as their reward.
CARR – Mr. McMurtrie plays Carr Ball with students in Martz Hall during the PBIS reward. The gym was by far the most popular activity, with over 400 students choosing to spend their time there.

WALK – A group of 6th grade girls walks around the top of Martz Hall and enjoy spending time with each other as their PBIS reward.
