This year, the 7th grade girls’ basketball team has been having a great season. This is the first year these girls are able to play as members of a school sponsored basketball team. Previously, the girls played for recreational or CYO leagues. The girls play several games per week and play against local schools such as Minersville, Pine Grove, and Jim Thorpe. The home games are played in Martz Hall.

Lainey Dusel said, “I feel proud about playing at Martz Hall because it’s my school and it feels more calm when we play there.”

The 7th grade coaches are Mr. Steve Ennis and Mr. Phil Tenaglia.

“I love my coaches because they help us with what we need to work on in practice and help us perfect our shots and plays,” Dusel said.

When asked if she gets nervous for games, Lauren Ditzler said, “I’m not nervous for games because I know my team and I will do great. Before we go onto the court, we talk about what we need to work on before we play. I like defense better because I like to steal the ball.”

The members of the 7th grade team are Cadence Artz, Chloe Azbell, Peyton Butz, Carly Demcher, Lauren Ditzler, Lainey Dusel, Keirra Jones, Kennedy Preti, Brooklyn Reinert, Izzy Teresavage, and Niylena Wyroski.

The 7th graders next game is on Thursday night at North Schuylkill. The game starts at 6 p.m. if you want to go check it out and cheer on the Lady Tide!
