“Macbeth” to debut at Majestic Theatre

The Majestic Theatre will be putting on the Shakespearean play, “Macbeth.” The show’s dates are November 9 and 10, but the time is yet to be determined. The directors of the show are Ms. Emily Ehlinger and Mrs. Maria Malek. The actors who are from Pottsville are Ava Ciravella, Hannah Martician, Sarah Malek, Chloelynn Salisbury, Kieran Bush, Gabriella Fort, Quinn Evans, Emmett Kraft, and Rosa Caravel (John S. Clarke). The actors who aren’t from Pottsville are Winter and Autumn Gehrman (Gillingham), Sophia and Charlotte Noon (Minersville), and Marcus and Genevieve Smith (Schuylkill Haven).

Macbeth is about a Scottish general named Macbeth who receives a prophecy from a trio of witches. The witches say that he will become king. The prophecy gets to his head, and convinced by his wife Lady Macbeth, he kills King Duncan, and then he obtains the title of king. He hires murderers to kill the Macduff family to hide suspicion that it was him. After murdering Macduff’s family, Macduff takes matters into his own hands and kills Macbeth himself. Malcolm (Duncan’s son) is worried about Macduff because he left, but Macduff came back with Macbeth’s head. Malcolm was now crowned King of Scotland.

Mrs. Malek said, ”My favorite part of directing is the surprises that come up during a scene. I love when actors come up with creative ideas on the stop and we can incorporate them into the show.”

Quinn Evans and Emmett Kraft agree that their favorite part of the show is their drunken porter scene. Kieran Bush thinks the most interesting thing about Shakespeare is how he wrote his various plays. Sarah Malek and Hannah Martician prepared for their parts by looking up Shakespearean words and how to pronounce them.

Chloelynn Salisbury said her favorite Shakespearean show is Macbeth because it’s in the only Shakespearean show she’s been in, but she would love to get to know his others shows. Ava Ciravella has been in four Shakespearean shows including Henry V, King Lear, The Tempest, and now Macbeth.

We hope you will come see our show!
